The Great Lakes Regional is a FIRST Robotics Competition Regional that was held typically at the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This event was held from 1998-2008. In 2009, FIRST decided to implement the Michigan Pilot District Event Model. It was decided that instead of hosting the Great Lakes Regional at EMU, they would eliminate the typical Michigan regionals (West Michigan, Detroit, Great Lakes) and make the sites of West Michigan and Detroit district competitions and the site of Great Lakes the state championship.
