History

LASA Robotics, Team Purple Haze, was founded in 1993 for the B.E.S.T. competition, in which it has been quite successful. In 2000, our sponsor was able to kick off the team's career in the FIRST competition, and the rest is pretty much history. The team competes annually in the Lone Star Regional, and recently in the Dallas Regional. Since 2004, it has been tradition to name the robot such that it has a PH in it, to commemorate our team's nickname "Purple Haze." We catch a lot of flack for "Purple Haze" due to the name's origins in illegal narcotics, but in the immortal words of Tony Bertucci, "Get over it."
